World Series Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended contest where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51M watchers across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB announced this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s epic contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase over the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th place.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-game series drew 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership reached 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million watchers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason ratings after 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
