Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This means them few options but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.

Viewers can anticipate finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
